I am delighted to share that I have recently received confirmation that my application to renew my re accreditation has been approved by the Family Mediation Standards Board. I completed my mediation training in 2010 and went on to gain my first accreditation in 2012.
I run a practice where I train and support mediators beginning their journey as a mediator and know all too well the huge demands required to achieve that first accreditation but it doesn’t stop there. Every 3 years all accredited mediators have to re accredit and this is now my fourth successful re accreditation. Each time, the process demands that little bit more as changes are made to the process to ensure that it remains a rigorous process and upholds what is generally regarded as the gold standard of mediators. We have to satisfy the panel in a number of areas demonstrating our practical experience, ongoing professional training and development and supervision.
So today I’m celebrating the renewal of my accreditation as a mediator, child inclusive mediator and also as a professional practice consultant. This is hugely rewarding for me as I returned from a maternity break last year and have worked hard throughout two maternity leaves to maintain my professional status. I’m proud that a year on from returning to work, I have a practice that is as busy as it’s ever been. I’ve welcomed several new mediators who are beginning their journey towards establishing their own practices and accreditation and I have been privileged to work with so many couples and their children who are going through a family separation and choosing to mediate. As always, I’m so grateful for those who choose to work with me.
